MONNE releases "Jack in the Box" – a cinematic new single where mechanical rhythms, strong melodies and a dreamlike soundscape follow a mind in high gear.

A train of thought gone astray

"Jack in the Box" takes its starting point from the moment when one small worry breeds the next.

The thoughts become like a whole train rushing away.

Train tracks, music boxes, clowns and mechanical movements create a unique imagery for the song's unrest.

But beneath the chaos there is also a will to break old patterns, grow and choose a new direction.

MONNE has been writing and composing her own music since she was thirteen years old. As a singer-songwriter from Halden, she builds immersive musical worlds in the intersection of darkness and light, vulnerability and strength.

With her distinctive voice, strong melodies and subtle, imaginative lyrics, she allows the personal to open up to something recognizable and universal.

Cinematic folk-pop with room for contrasts

Musically, "Jack in the Box" moves in a cinematic folk-pop landscape, where organic elements meet atmospheric production and distinctive sonic details.

The single shows a darker, more experimental and playful side of MONNE, without losing the emotional openness that lies at the core of her expression.

A visual universe in motion

The single is also the musical basis for an upcoming surreal animated short film.

The film combines stop-motion, 2D animation and experimental visual techniques, and allows the train of thought to take shape through a hand-crafted universe inspired by the 1920s avant-garde, Dadaism and German Expressionism.

The official digital premiere is September 18th.
