BIO
Steffen Hissingby is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a rare strong expression of communication, groove and musicality. He is often described as an old soul in a young body – and it is easy to understand why. His music is marked by deep roots in blues, rock and soul, combined with a modern, personal songwriting perspective.
Hissingby has played on stages at home and abroad, including at the legendary 100 Club in London, and has collaborated with profiles such as Todd Sharpville, Marcus Bonfanti and a number of renowned musicians from the Norwegian and international scene. He has also shared the stage with names such as Roger Glover and Don Airey (Deep Purple) in a jam context – a seal of quality in itself.
In addition to being a frontman, Hissingby is a sought-after musician and technician. He masters bass, guitar and vocals, and has worked as a sound engineer for artists such as Innes Sibun, Chris Thomas King and several established names in the blues and rock community. This holistic understanding of music – both on and off stage – also characterizes his own productions.
In October he will release his debut album Musikantidepressiva, a strong and personal work that thematizes contrasts in life: loss and hope, anger and love, darkness and redemption. The album is performed live with the band from the recording, and the concerts are characterized by intensity, presence and a clear contact with the audience.
Steffen Hissingby is not an artist who chases trends. He builds trust, song by song.
Genuine. Mature. With lasting effect.
