Gjermund Silset

Gjermund Silset is one of Norway's most renowned bassists and producers, known for his warm, organic sound and strong communication skills. He has contributed to over 160 releases and collaborated with, among others, Mari Boine, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Odd Nordstoga and Ingebjørg Bratland. With a background from the Norwegian Academy of Music, he unites folk music, jazz and pop in an expression characterized by closeness and quality. Gjermund Silset (born 1966 in Batnfjordsøra) is a Norwegian musician, producer and songwriter with double bass and electric bass as his main instruments.
He is educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music (1986-1992).

Silset has recorded and participated in nearly 150 albums in the genres of jazz, pop and world music. In the period 1988-1998 he was a permanent member of the Mari Boine Band, and he has collaborated with artists such as Kari Bremnes, Ola Bremnes, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Odd Nordstoga, Ingebjørg Bratland and international names such as Rim Banna and Mahsa Vahdat.

With his broad experience and strong grasp of both acoustic and electric bass, Silset has established himself as a sought-after session and production musician in Norway, and his work contributes to lifting artist projects with high musical integrity and creativity.
